David Welling is a graphic designer, illustrator and writer,
with a broad background in both commercial and fine arts.
He has served as a senior designer at American General, designer
and art director for Halliburton, and advertising artist at
the Houston Post. He currently is the senior graphic designer
for CapRock Communications. Additional clients have included
Ogilvy & Mather, the Houston International Festival, KKBQ-93Q
Radio, Corestaff, Hintz Advertising, KLOL-K101 Radio, Taylor
Brown Smith & Perrault, Sykes Communications, KRIV-TV,
School of the Woods and Houston Grand Opera.
As a writer, he has contributed to publications such as The
Houston Press and the Houston Post. His book,
Cinema Houston, was published by
the University of Texas Press in 2007.
David has been affilliated with the Art Director's Club of
Houston (ADCH), the Writers League of Texas, and the
Houston Society of Illustrators (HSI). He was elected to the
HSI Board of Directors from 1992 through 1995.
A native Texanhe was raised in AlvinDavid currently
lives in Houston with his wife and two children.
